Sarehole Environmental Action Team (SEAT)

The Sarehole Environmental Action Team (SEAT) is an entirely voluntary organisation of local residents working in partnership with Birmingham City Council staff and other neighbouring voluntary groups.
SEAT cares for the section of the River Cole corridor between Sarehole Mill and the Stratford Road. Formal and informal paths run through the area, which includes areas of plantation woodland, a small orchard, native hedges, two sets of stepping stones, the only ford along the river still open to motor vehicles, and Sarehole recreation ground.
Established in 2008 as a litter-picking group, SEAT soon expanded its remit to include a wide variety of conservation tasks. These include woodland, hedgerow and orchard management, path clearance, control of invasive species (Himalayan balsam, giant hogweed), and water quality monitoring. One-off tasks have included path diversions and step construction.

A full SEAT workday is held on the second Saturday of every month, with other events held periodically throughout the year. Everyone is welcome to join in with these workdays.
