What’s On: BOSF Events 2026

Throughout the year Birmingham Open Spaces Forum brings people together through events, socials and activities that celebrate Birmingham’s parks and open spaces and the communities who care for them.

From seasonal gatherings and skill-sharing sessions to walks, workshops and our AGM, our events are a chance for Friends groups, volunteers and supporters to connect, share ideas and learn from one another. They are also an opportunity to strengthen our network, support local action and inspire more people to get involved in looking after their local green spaces.

Whether you are part of a Friends group, a volunteer, or simply curious to find out more, we would love for you to join us.

Here’s what’s coming up over the next few months:

April – May

Little Sprouts Nature Sessions – Tuesday mornings, 10.30am – 11.45am

Join BOSF and Omnia Green Space for free outdoor nature activity sessions for children under 5 and their grown-up, every Tuesday morning throughout April and May!

Activities may include nature crafts, planting, making bug homes, wildlife spotting, stories, forest school activities and generally enjoying being outside together. Recommended for children aged 18 months to school age. Places are limited and booking is essential.

Dates: Tuesday 14th, 21st and 28th April and 5th, 12th and 19th May

Location: Omnia Green Space, behind Omnia Practice and Yardley Green Medical Centre, 73/77 Yardley Green Road, B9 5PU.

Online Workshop – Building Your Community: Members, Supporters & Committee – Wednesday 20th, 6pm – 7:30pm

BOSF Online Workshop: Understand the differences between members, supporters and committee roles – and why it matters

Join Birmingham Open Spaces Forum for a practical online session exploring the different roles people can play in your community group.

Free for BOSF members, space is limited, with a maximum of two places available per Friends group.

June

Afternoon Social at Coplow Street Grow Site – Thursday 25th, 4pm – 7pm

Join BOSF and North Summerfield Residents Association for an Afternoon Social at the Coplow Street Grow Site – a brilliant local community garden in the heart of the neighbourhood.

Nature Engagement Sessions

BOSF’s Nature Engagement Officer Abi runs free community nature activities across three areas of Birmingham – Nechells, Bordesley & Highgate, and Balsall Heath – helping local people of all ages get to know and enjoy the green spaces on their doorstep.

With a background in nature education, community engagement and practical conservation, Abi brings enthusiasm and expertise to everything she does. These activities are funded by the National Lottery Community Fund’s Reaching Communities programme.

Balsall Heath – Wellbeing in Nature Free outdoor sessions for women, led by Abi and Holly from Anawim. Walking, nature crafts, Forest School activities and more. Tai Chi & Qigong

Tai Chi & Qigong involves gentle exercise that combines breathing and relaxation with slow movements, proven to have benefits for both physical and mental health. No previous experience is necessary – so why not give it a go?
