Francis Road Allotments

Francis Road Allotments is a council-owned site in Stechford and it’s one of the oldest in Birmingham, right in the middle of a busy and built-up area. All 57 plots are currently let, though that changes quite often from month to month. The group is a diverse mix of people from lots of different countries and cultures, with ages currently ranging from their 30s to their 90s. Plotholders are helpful and supportive of each other, and there are activities that involve everyone on site as well as the wider community.
In August 2026 the allotment opened its new Community Plot, with 10 raised beds set aside for people who are vulnerable or isolated. It’s already proving popular, with at least 20 people coming along each week to grow their own vegetables and be part of the allotment community.
