Chester Road Station (Friends)

Friends of Chester Road Station is a community volunteer group formed in 2022 as part of West Midlands Railway’s Station Adoption scheme – a nationwide movement that brings local people together to care for and enhance their local stations. Station Adoption groups work alongside Community Station and Rail Partnerships and Train Operating Company officers with the shared aim of upgrading stations, increasing passenger numbers and playing a visible role in local regeneration and social inclusion.
Since forming, the group has been working to improve the area around Chester Road Station through a range of ongoing activities – including monthly litter picks, a Remembrance board with a plaque dedicated to a Station Porter who lost his life at the Somme, and an annual Christmas tree display sponsored by local companies with baubles decorated by pupils from two local schools.
