Quinton Meadows Consultative Committee
QMCC (Quinton Meadows Consultative Committee) was created by Birmingham City Council in 2000 following a long campaign by local communities in Quinton and Halesowen to save as much as possible of Quinton Meadows (formerly known as Woodgate Valley ‘Site A’) from built development, and for the Meadows to be used for the benefit of local people. The Committee provides a forum for the
continuing involvement of local groups and bodies in the detailed management and development of Quinton Meadows and its facilities.
The Committee includes representatives from Birmingham City Council, Dudley Metropolitan Council, the local community and environmental groups. The majority of those on the Committee are local residents who serve as representatives of two historic networks (Quinton Meadows Action Group and Woodgate Valley Conservation Group).
Meetings are held four times a year in the Scout Hut on Ridgacre Road West/Jackson Way, Quinton B32 1AS and are open to all local residents, who can attend as observers. We also conduct tours of inspection which all are welcome to join.
Location: Quinton Meadows Local Nature Reserve and Howley Grange Recreation Ground are accessible on foot from Clay Drive/Jackson Way, Quinton; from Bournebrook Crescent, Halesowen; and from Woodgate Valley Country Park via the pelican crossing over the Quinton Expressway.
If you would like to know more about the Committee or about Quinton Meadows, please contact the Secretary, Peter Beck, 440 Ridgacre Road West, Quinton, Birmingham B32 1AS.
