    A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work with Birmingham Open Spaces Forum, Birmingham City Council and other partners of the Future Parks Accelerator Programme; A partnership fund between Heritage Lottery, the National Trust and the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

    The Future Parks Accelerator programme aims to create a step-change in park management, funding and value through innovation, collation and dissemination of ‘best in class’
    practices, adapting ‘what works’ from other sectors and blending for parks.

    Birmingham Open Spaces Forum is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that has been running since 2005. We support the community groups of Birmingham who are passionate about their parks and green open spaces. We do this by providing information, creating opportunities for groups to share skills, knowledge and experience, networking and coordinate a community voice to be heard by decision makers. We produce regular updates about funding sources, training opportunities, events in open spaces and other information
    of interest to our members.

    The 0.6 or 3 day a week post is all about collaboration, problem solving and ensuring that the community voice is involved in decision making. It is also about finding solutions to
    problems and challenges that arise within the programme. Working across the city, and initially focussing on 4 pilot areas, the role would be ideally suited to a candidate with community development or greens space experience, and with a strong understanding of how local authorities work, and the challenges they face.
