Sparkbrook Clean Up 9th May
Lets get Sparkbrook Sparkling again! When the community takes pride in its neighbourhood environment, everyone benefits. Summer is coming and now is the time to tidy up our streets and get Sparkbrook blooming with flowers and to come together to celebrate our community in all of its diversity.
KIKIT Pathways to recovery, Sparkbrook and Balsall Heath Forum, CGL and its partners have organised a community environment and health and wellbeing day, the aim of which is to bring together the community, local businesses and the voluntary and statutory sector to clean up Sparkbrook and to present the launch of CGL.
CGL (Change, Grow and Live) is the new name for CRI, a leading national charity providing treatment and support to over 55,000 vulnerable people in England and wales every day. They champion people who have faced hardships like abuse, homelessness and addiction, and empower them to lead the lives they want, on their terms. CGL currently deliver drug and alcohol recovery support services through Reach out Recovery.
From the Camp Hill island, along Stratford Road through to Ladypool Road junction, an army of volunteers will be clearing away rubbish and planting flowers to make the Stratford Road corridor into and out of the city really attractive and somewhere to be proud of.
We will meet up at Christ Church at 10am on the 9th May 2016 and after days activities we will meet there again for food at 2pm and for a short health and wellbeing presentation; ‘Welcome to our community’ from CGL.
