• Making Birmingham Greener & Healthier Awards 2016

To introduce the new Best Naturally Green (Biophilic) Scheme category, the Making Birmingham Greener & Healthier Awards were launched at the Small Heath EcoPark earlier this month. This new category is open to applications from people or organisations that have made space for nature and introduced schemes to protect wildlife and increase biodiversity; improved access to green living spaces; are involved in growing projects; have found natural solutions to flood risk management and are generally connecting with the natural environment.
The other 4 categories covering waste and recycling; energy efficiency; greener & healthier lifestyles and the Birmingham Connected Sustainable Travel Award are also inviting entries from businesses, community groups and education establishments across the city.
Application forms are available from the Making Birmingham Greener website
The closing date for entries is 31 May 2016.
The names of the 15 winners and runners-up, and one overall winner who is judged to have completely embraced the ethos of the awards, will be announced at a ceremony in the Banqueting Suite at the Council House on Tuesday 5 July.
