New Meadows through the Nature Improvement Area
During July over 30 partners and 200 volunteers helped create new wildflower meadows across the Nature Improvement Area. The Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust took hay full of the seeds of orchids, cowslips and numerous other species from ancient meadows across the West Midlands to 18 sites in Birmingham and the Black Country.
From as early as next year these new meadows will be providing valuable food for our declining bees and butterflies. If you know of a site that could be transformed into a flower-rich meadow next year please let them know, by contacting them at the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust
