• Winterbourne House & Garden

Winterbourne was commissioned in 1903 by John Sutton Nettlefold for his young family, employing the Arts and Craft style in its design both inside and out. The home has now been transformed by interactive displays and hands-on learning exhibits for all ages. Blooming with over 6000 different plant species, Winterbourne is a tantalising tapestry of colour, texture and scents throughout the seasons. It is also home to several 19th Century printing presses which are now used for workshops and demonstrations, as well as a gallery, community reading room and gift shop.

Today, Winterbourne is not only a serene sanctuary but, a place of learning and family fun. Play garden games outside the terrace tea room, enjoy an outdoor theatre performance, try a new activity such as embroidery, or attend one of the many events on offer each year; there is something for everyone. Winterbourne also runs accredited RHS courses so you can hone your green fingers. You’ll find plenty of family friendly facilities, including a children’s garden, and events programmed for young children with the added benefit of free entry for children aged under 5. Come and explore your secret garden today.

Winterbourne Botanic Garden is the botanic garden of the University of Birmingham, located in Edgbaston, Birmingham. It is adjacent to Edgbaston Pool, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
