Cotteridge Park Volunteers Honored in Parliament by New Local MP
We are thrilled to share some exciting news – The Friends of Cotteridge Park have been honoured with a special mention in the maiden speech of their new local MP, Al Carns, in the House of Commons!
In his speech delivered on July 24, 2024, MP Al Carns spoke highly of the dedication and impact of local volunteers, specifically acknowledging the Friends of Cotteridge Park. Here’s an excerpt from his speech:
“The work of the small army of volunteers who stepped in to care for each other when past Governments forgot them has my deep admiration. They keep so much afloat—no Navy pun intended—supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice, Oaks and other primary schools, the Shed in Cotteridge Park, and many social gardens and food banks across the constituency. Their energy, commitment, and selflessness is truly remarkable.”
This recognition is a testament to the passion and hard work of all of the Friends of Cotteridge Park volunteers, who dedicate their time to making their local park a vibrant and welcoming place for the community. We are incredibly proud of the impact this Friends Group has made and grateful to MP Al Carns for highlighting their efforts on such a significant platform.
Thank you to all the volunteers for their unwavering commitment and the positive difference they make!
