• Birmingham Community Innovation Fund Match Funding for Crowdfunding

Birmingham Community Innovation Fund – match-funding for crowdfunding
As part of a refreshed criteria and process, Birmingham City Council is inviting proposals to its Community Innovation Fund which can support the following priorities:

    • Loneliness and social isolation amongst older people and people with disabilities
    • Support for carers (informal and unpaid carers of family and friends)
    • Preventing homelessness

The fund is being delivered in partnership with Crowdfunder to match funds raised by projects and campaigns through the “crowd”. For proposals which match the priorities and outcomes the Council will provide 50% match-funding up to the value of £10,000 and there is £200,000 in total we are looking to invest over the next six months. Full details are available via https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/crowdfund-birmingham.
Since November five projects/campaigns have been successfully supported with the Council pledging £35,000 to match £46,000 raised through the “crowd” (total value of approximately £81,000). A list of the projects funded so far can be found on the website and we are very willing to support creative ideas and activity, to understand the broad range of activity which can have a positive impact on adult social care and health outcomes for citizens and communities.
In addition to the funding there is also support and training available via Crowdfunder to help raise awareness of the opportunities and applications for crowdfunding. This includes a brand new series of online workshops, where Crowdfunder taking place on Tuesday 17th April at 5:30pm, followed by 24th April and 1st May at the same time.
