Conker Island (Friends of)
Conker Island provides a wonderful open green space for local residents and includes many beautiful mature trees including seven horse chestnut trees. The space is enjoyed by local children, dog walkers, local groups and those just wanting to sit out in the open air. The space has a lot of potential to offer more for its local residents and wildlife.
The main aims of the Friends of Conker Island are to:
- Increase the biodiversity of the site alongside current site usage
- Increase targeted planting to reduce the impact of road traffic air pollution
- Increase learning opportunities for local school children
- Improve cleanliness of the site by reducing litter and glass
