Recruiting: BCM Development Assistant role
Work for Birmingham Community Matters
Having secured a Reaching Communities England grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, BCM have hired a Development Coordinator to advance the model and approach of our small Birmingham charity.
BCM are now looking for a Development Assistant.
If you are not yet familiar with BCM, please browse their website to learn about our work in supporting small community groups.
To attract the right applicants, BCM have aimed to make the working arrangements as flexible as possible. The role is home based, although it may be possible to arrange hot-desking space if necessary. BCM will support the successful candidate to develop their skills.
As with the Development Coordinator role, the contract is for three years, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. There is no guarantee that the posts will continue beyond the current secured funding, although BCM will be looking for opportunities to raise further funds.
You can learn more and find out how to apply by downloading the job description and application form:
> BCM Development Assistant role description
> BCM Development Assistant application form
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 23 October, with a provisional date for interviews set for Wednesday 6 November.
The job description also contains contact details for BCM’s Chair in case you would like to chat informally about the role and where you feel your strengths are.
Volunteer with BCM
As well as recruiting for paid employees, BCM are looking to:
* Grow the BCM board of trustees and welcome people with experience of running community and volunteer organisations to be part of the BCM advisory group
* Find experienced helpers to ‘micro-volunteer’ (just a couple of hours every now and again) by offering face-to-face support at the BCM surgeries across Birmingham.
In return BCM offer you the chance to be part of their evolving charity in its infancy, benefiting from networking and learning opportunities created by BCM events. As the BCM motto goes: “Everyone has something to learn and everyone has something to teach”.
If you are interested in volunteering with BCM please send an introductory email to [email protected], briefly outlining your experience within community or volunteering organisations, and where you may like to help within BCM.
