Heritage Lottery Fund The State of UK Parks Report II Consultation
The condition, funding and future of the UK’s public parks is coming under fresh scrutiny, two years after the Heritage Lottery Fund’s (HLF) groundbreaking State of Parks report.
The State of UK Parks Report, published in June 2014, revealed a growing risk that some parks could become no-go areas or even sold off, with:
86% of parks managers reporting cuts to revenue budgets;
45% of local authorities considering either selling parks and green spaces or transferring their management to others; and
81% of council parks departments having lost skilled management staff.
We at BOSF, in partnership with CFP and HLF, are now asking all Friends Groups across the Birmingham to complete this survey to help assess how our parks are faring in the current economic climate.
The survey runs from Monday 4th April until Friday 29th April 2016.
Please take the time to fill out this survey, as it is very important and the report will be read by decision makers and will have an impact on our open green spaces.
Click here to start the survey.
There is the ability to save your responses and a reference copy of the survey can be downloaded from the website here. It also includes the link to the survey to be completed by all Park Managers.
