Martineau Gardens Spring Event Sunday 17th May

See It, Grow It, Taste It! – Martineau Gardens Spring Event, Priory Road, Edgbaston
A gardening workshop, live music, and children’s wildlife and craft activities are some of the treats in store for visitors to Martineau Gardens annual spring event on Sunday 17 May, from 11am – 3pm.
The organically maintained Community Garden is holding a family friendly fete to encourage visitors to enjoy an afternoon relaxing in the Gardens whilst getting inspired to ‘Grow their Own’.
There will be live music from Carlo Mahalo and the G Strings Ukulele band, Ingrid’s Accordions, Moseley Village Band and Rich Stokes.
The Honey Stall with its demonstration bee hive will show the importance of bees role in pollinating crops and gardeners will enjoy the opportunity to stock up on Martineau Gardens’ Spring herbaceous plants and compost. Garden experts will be on hand to answer gardening questions and selling plants grown at the Gardens. There will also be a gardening workshop.  Freshly-cut vegetables will be for sale.
There’s plenty of fun planned for the children. Younger visitors will enjoy wildlife activities with The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country, Crafty Kids with Kika and Tiger Skins of Sunlight will be running craft activities in the Studio. Children can play in the Shipwreck play area.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics, but there will be delicious home-made cakes, salads and sandwiches and other refreshments on sale in the Pavilion. The Gardens, though only two miles from Birmingham city centre are a green oasis that is teeming with wildlife. There’s plenty to enjoy, including woodland, glass houses, formal gardens, orchard, vegetable plots, wildflower meadow, a nature trail, a bird hide and more.
Admission is £3 (non-members), £1(concessions), families £6 (maximum two adults) and free to members
