Take Part in England’s Great Litter Count

As a Big Tidy Up organiser, we know you love where you live; you care about the problems of litter and working to reduce it.
We are asking all our supporters to help us by taking part in England’s Great Litter Count, to show which brands are dropped most as litter on our nation’s streets, green spaces and beaches. Last year, for the first time ever, we asked for volunteers to join our surveying staff to help us measure the state of their local areas.
The results were amazing. More than 500 people signed up, allowing us to count more than 37,000 pieces of litter. This year we’d like England’s Great Litter Count to be even larger; to survey more of England’s streets, green spaces or watersides and collect even more data on the most littered brands. The more data we have, the more useful it will be in our campaigns to put an end to littering.
Can you help us by taking part in England’s Great Litter Count?
Taking part is as easy as 1-2-3 …
1). Visit our Great Litter Count website to download your guidance and recording sheet.
2). Carry out your litter count, wherever you’d like, for just 30 minutes, any time between 21 March – 21 April.
3). Come back to our website to upload your data, it’s a simple form and should take less than 10 minutes.
Then we’ll crunch the numbers, share the results of the most littered brands and use the information in our campaigns to encourage businesses to make positive changes.
You can combine your Great Litter Count with a Tidy Up too; just make sure you count the brands before you bin them.
