• Central Newtown Community Forum

The Central Newtown Community Forum is a growing volunteer group working to bring people together through events and activities in Yellow Park and beyond. In August 2025, the group hosted its first park event, Picnic in the Park, which welcomed nearly 80 local residents for a day of community fun – and almost 50 Children got stuck into activities, such as making willow crowns!

Looking ahead the Forum hopes to develop regular activities to help care for Yellow Park and create new opportunities for people to enjoy it – from simple litter picks to bigger plans like installing a permanent outdoor ping pong table.

Alongside the Forum’s efforts, Birmingham’s Park Rangers have also been active in Yellow Park – they have led regular weekday volunteer workdays, tackling litter, tidying up the park, planting bulbs, and starting work to clear the raised bed next to the playground. The aim is to re-plant it with wildlife-friendly flowers and plants, creating a colourful spot for the community and more habitat for nature. These Ranger led sessions are open to the public, so if you are interested in lending a helping hand and joining in – please get in contact via the email below.
