Kings Norton Village Canal Festival
The Kings Norton Village Canal Festival celebrates 200 years of the completion of the Birmingham to Worcester Canal.
This historic canal festival runs from 4pm Friday 10 July to 4pm Sunday 12 July 2015 in Kings Norton Playing Fields and canal side with a special farmers market and community displays at St Nicolas Place The Green, on the Saturday morning. Bells will ring to open the festival.
Volunteers from Friends of Kings Norton Park and local history groups are working in partnership with Worcester Birmingham and Droitwich Canal Society to deliver this first time event.
Over the weekend there will be a range of different boaters, crafts,a complete entertainment line up of artists and musicians on stage, bar, small fair rides, walks, talk on the history of the canal, community and nature stalls, history boats, lots of other activities.
Finally an Aussie style Fun Dry Boat Race to close the celebrations on Sunday around 3.30pm. To enter the dry boat race you make a lightweight boat, any material any shape any size, your team stands inside it and you race against other teams on dry land over a short distance for fun. You can decorate with your logos if you wish. Dry Boat Race and raffle prizes will include a 4 day narrow boat holiday and various family days out and £100 sports voucher for schools and clubs.
We welcome any volunteers to help set up take down and/or steward at our event. You could run a self promotional activity stall or taster session just book in. Or maybe you would like an advertisement for in our programme £25 1/4 page £50 1/2 page £100 full page?
