Golden Birmingham

2013 has found Birmingham achieving a number of major Horticultural and Environmental awards, thanks to the team from Birmingham’s Parks staff, with some help from us.
The outstanding list of awards is as follows:
Chelsea Flower Show prestigious Gold Medal for Birmingham Parks “Enlightenment” floral display
Gardeners World Live Gold Medal and Best Exhibit in the Floral Marquee. The display was inspired by the new Library of Birmingham and featured some best-loved local writers.
Birmingham Floral Trail used elements from the Chelsea display
RHS Tatton Flower Show Gold Medal for “Birmingham Canals” display featuring Birmingham canal, lock and tunnel.
Heart of England in Bloom Gold Award in the Large City category
A European Entente Florale Gold Award with Eastside Park gaining a special award for Outstanding Green Space.
Selly Oak Park became the eleventh Birmingham park to receive the Green Flag Award and retained all its other Green Flags.
The Nature Centre retained its “Excellent” rating in Tripadvisor
APSE Annual Service Awards 2013: Finalist for Best Service Team Parks, Grounds and Horticultural and Best renewable Energy & energy Efficiency Initiative
