Maria Luczak – Rivington Terraced Gardens: the collaboration of Lever & Mawson ‘None comes into competition’

Maria Luczak will give an illustrated talk on the history and development of the Rivington Terraced Gardens near Bolton, Lancashire.
The gardens were designed by the landscape architect Thomas Mawson from 1905 for William Lever (later Lord Leverhulme). Once a brilliant example of the Arts and Crafts style the gardens fell into disrepair following a prolonged period of neglect. However the garden as well as its many listed buildings and structures are now being conserved and restored with the aid of Heritage Lottery Funds. Maria will speak about how the gardens finally emerged from their long slumber.
Individual tickets: Gardens Trust members and County Gardens Trust members, £10; non-members £12. Ticket includes a glass of wine/soft drink.
