Childrens Visits to Green Spaces Natural England Report
A report from Natural England reveals the scale and scope of the visits children in England make to natural environments, including parks, playgrounds and woodlands.
The results show a link between social inequalities and the opportunities that children have to experience the natural environment. It also highlights the importance of local greenspace to all children – especially those who visit less frequently.
Many children visit frequently, but a significant minority never visit:
- Around 9 million children in England visited the natural environment in the previous 12 months (88% of all children in England).
- 70% of children visited the natural environment frequently (at least once a week).
- 12% of children never visited the natural environment in the previous 12 month period.
