    New equipment for Birmingham’s community volunteer groups.

    “Thank you to Birmingham’s volunteers, this year you have collected over 100 tonnes of litter and registered 106 community clean up events!” – BCC Cleaner Greener Streets

    During the Community Recognition Day a presentation was given about the new community initiative launching to support  volunteers, which included new equipment for community groups, such as beat sweeper barrows, rakes, graffiti kits, first aid kits, brooms and more. As well as a 12-step training programme for volunteers.

    It was well attended by both Street Clean groups, Park Groups as well as Lord Mayor, Cllr Mohammed Azim and Baroness Floella Benjamin.

    Thanks was given to community action for our streets and parks in Birmingham and to everyone involved in the Great British Spring Clean 2019. Baroness Floella Benjamin spoke in great length about her work with children and the importance of all our volunteering work in Birmingham.who welcomed Birmingham’s Chelsea Flower Show garden back to the city, and presented volunteers with their 3D model figure. 

    Cllr John O’Shea then spoke about his role Streetscene and Parks, followed by a talk by BOSF’s Sarah Royal about the Year of Green Action, the Big Green Conversation and our work as BOSF.

    Darren Share then talked about the offer of equipment to groups (equipment seen the photograph above).

    It was a great event!
