Sport England Announces Future Funding Schemes
Sport England has announced that it will launch three new funding programmes in December 2016.
This is part of its new strategy “Towards an Active Nation”. The three funds to be launched are:
- A £3 million Volunteering Fund to diversify the range of people who volunteer in sport
- A £10 million Inactivity Fund to tackle inactivity amongst older adults (55+)
- A £7.5 million Community Asset Fund to support single and multi-sport community facilities.
Sport England will also launch a pilot programme to develop and implement local strategies for physical activity and sport within 10 local areas. These will be pilots to learn lessons from and will particularly focus on addressing inactivity and working with under-represented groups. In December 2016, Sport England will invite expressions of interest to become one of its local delivery pilot projects. Sport England want to support pilot projects in both urban and rural areas and in different parts of England.
