Halloween at Martineau Gardens
Community Garden Martineau Gardens and the Traditional Arts Team have joined forces to present ‘Stories on Halloween’ a family friendly evening of outdoor storytelling on Monday 31 October, 6pm – 9pm.
Visitors are invited to take a ghost walk around Martineau Gardens as darkness falls, to stand in the shadows, the woods or beside the flickering fire and listen to tales of ghosts, spirits and fairy-folk.
Hot soup and light refreshments will be available or people can bring their own.
Tickets cost £5 for adults, accompanied children are £2 via Martineau Gardens website or by calling 0121 440 7430. Advance booking essential.
Day of the Dead Celebrations Workshops on Sun 30 Oct
From 2pm until 4pm
Sugar Skulls Workshops for children. Members of the Mexican Community in the Midlands are running a ‘Day of the Dead’ activity to share the tradition with local families. See the altar that will be set up at Martineau Gardens, keeping one of Mexico’s most ancient traditions alive here in the Heart of England. Come and decorate a sugar skull, you can eat them or place them on the altar as a decoration.
The Gardens (normally closed to the public on Sundays) will be open for ticket holders only for two hours – attend one of the 30 minute sugar skull children’s workshops, visit the altar, explore the Gardens and enjoy a hot or cold drink. Tickets are £3 per child – booking essential.
Martineau Gardens is at 27 Priory Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B5 7UG. Located five minutes from the MAC and opposite the Priory Hospital.
