• Development Officer Role for Birmingham Trees for Life

    Birmingham Trees for Life is a partnership between The Birmingham Civic Society and Birmingham City Council which promotes and carries out tree planting throughout the city with school children and community groups.
    The Development Officer will be the lead person responsible for identifying and developing funding opportunities and potential new projects, and developing relationships and communications as appropriate with partners, funding bodies, and other relevant stakeholders.
    Role and Activities – Fundraising and Project Development

    1. Identify and follow up potential funding opportunities for core BTFL activities and potential new projects.
    2. Prepare and submit funding applications as appropriate.
    3. Develop project briefs for consideration by the BTFL Committee with proposals for sources of funding (and partners if appropriate) to support the projects.
    4. Develop relationships with relevant funding organisations and sponsors as appropriate.
    5. In the context of, and for the purpose of, fundraising and project development, develop and maintain networks and relationships with relevant local and national environmental and tree-related organisations, especially potential and existing partner organisations.
    6. Develop new ideas for BTFL activities for consideration by the BTFL Committee.
    7. Maintain communications with BTFL’s various audiences and partners as appropriate, exploiting modern media opportunities as required.

    General Requirements

    • To represent BTFL and the Birmingham Civic Society in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
    • To attend BTFL Committee meetings to update Committee members when invited, as appropriate.
    • To attend other relevant events as required from time to time to represent BTFL.
    • To promote the importance of trees and tree planting generally and the role of BTFL in Birmingham.

    This is a self-employed role and the closing date is on Friday 1st July. The interview date has been provisionally set for 22nd July.
