Community Environmental Trust recruiting volunteers for Confidence Through Conservation
We are currently recruiting volunteers for the Confidence Through Conservation (CTC) project.
CTC aims to engage with the long term unemployed and those with an interest in the environment and local green spaces.
The project spends one day per week (Tuesdays) at the Plantsbrook Local Nature Reserve and/or Castle Vale Conservation Area from 9:30am-12:30pm. The volunteers would be helping to preserve and protect the area whilst gaining valuable work place skills such as time keeping, team work, health and safety and other transferable skills. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to learn about environmental conservation whilst getting firsthand experience through hands-on activities.
Sessions will include a wide variety of tasks from litter picking to woodland management, from path clearance to habitat creation or from monitoring/recording species to coppicing willow.
Volunteers need no previous conservation experience although an interest in environment and working outdoors is essential. To qualify for the project volunteers must be over 19 and be unemployed.
