Ten Acres covers the area in which the River Bourne feeds into the River Rea. The site is a wetland site, frequently flooded, and home to wetland trees such as willow, alder and birch. The site itself has an entrance on Cartland Road and an entrance on Dogpool Lane.
Friends of Ten Acres was established in 2019 by local residents who felt that the site had a lot of potential as a beauty spot and as a highly accessible stretch of woodland in the heart of their community. Their ambition is to restore the woodland to an accessible and beautiful woodland by 2024.
The main contact for the Ten Acres Friends Group is Alan Bale who is also the Chair of the Birmingham based charity Sustainable Life.
