Friends of Rectory Park
Friends of Rectory Park are a voluntary group who work closely with Kirklees to restore and regenerating the park to make it useable for the local community. Their patron is Lord Savile who is a regular visitor to the Park.
The group was formed in May 2010 at a meeting at the Savile Arms in Thornhill in response to local concern about the decline of the Park and its facilities.
There are now over 50 members and welcome new members to join group to help to support their endeavours.
There is a committee of eleven who have been working very hard with Kirklees and Community Spaces on the increased accessibility of the park and with English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund to record the History of the Park and its wildlife
