Beginners Couch to 5K Starting at Senneleys Park

Taking up running can seem like a daunting project especially if you have never run before, feel out of shape or unfit. The Active Parks beginner programme is designed to get just about anyone off the couch and gradually work them up to running 5km (or for 30 minutes) in just 9 weeks.

It is designed for absolute beginners using a mixture of walking and jogging to gradually build up fitness and stamina and it is FREE!

Next course with Active Parks begins Monday 24th July 9.30am to 10.30am at Senneleys Park —joining may only be possible weeks 1-3 but please come along and speak to the leader who will be happy to advise.

Meet at the car park on Overfield Road.

This session is suitable for all ages and it’s perfect for beginners.  Put on your (comfortable) dancing shoes and join in.

Tai Chi combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements to help improve balance and stability. Experience the gentle flowing movements of Tai Chi, treat your whole body to a gentle and relaxing workout and say hello to feeling cool, calm, refreshed and energised.

It is a form of gentle exercise that combines deep breathing & relaxation techniques with slow, graceful movements.

BOSF 2017 Conference Community Safety in Parks

Saturday 7th October at The Studio on Cannon Street, Birmingham.

From 10.30am to 3.30pm, registration from 10.00am

Our theme this year is Community Safety in Parks and Open Spaces. Our packed programme for the day will include speakers from the Police, Fire Service, Dog Wardens and Birmingham’s Community Safety Team.

The aim of the day is to find out who you need to contact for all the safety issues you face on your site and to hear from others how they have faced and dealt with similar issues.

We will all look at what makes a “safe” open space and move towards setting up new networks to go forward with the Community Safety Team for our parks and open spaces.
